This term in PE, year 5 have been diving into the energetic world of tag rugby! It’s been fantastic to see them developing new skills and learning about the teamwork and agility needed to play this fast-paced sport.

In tag rugby, players focus on essential skills that make the game both fun and challenging. First and foremost is agility—being quick on their feet and able to change direction swiftly to dodge opponents. Year 5 have also been working on their hand-eye coordination and passing techniques, which are crucial for maintaining flow in the game. A well-timed pass can make all the difference!

Another big focus has been on spatial awareness. Learning where teammates and opponents are on the field helps players make smart decisions and stay one step ahead. And, of course, teamwork is at the heart of tag rugby, with students learning to communicate, support each other, and strategize as a group.

It’s been fantastic to see students bring so much energy and enthusiasm to the game, improving with every session. We’re proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see how their skills develop as we continue our rugby unit!
