Computing
“Alan Turing gave us a mathematical model of digital computing that has completely withstood the test of time. He gave us a very, very clear description that was truly prophetic,” George Dyson
This information page contains various documentation relating to the teaching of Computing at Queen’s Drive Primary School.
At Queen’s Drive, we aim to provide children with a high-quality computing education which equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. The core of computing is computer science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. At Queen’s Drive we use Discovery Coding as our main driver to teach these computer science skills. Building on this knowledge and understanding, pupils are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content. Our computing curriculum uses materials from Teach Computing to deliver this strand of computing. Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas through, information and communication technology – and we use materials adapted from Project Evolve to deliver this element of the computing curriculum.
The subject leaders for Computing are: Mr Lickley and Mr Pearce.
